"They can be used to such a purpose, yes. But only effective within their own range."
Max cocked his head and he listened to the bird, "So you're saying that once outside the limits of this place some form of normality returns?" he
asked, "So in theory you could actually shift the whole city 100 feet to the left and end all the problems" he suggested, and if he had his power he
probabily could have done if he'd put his mind to it, not that it would be a good plan, but it was a plan.
"I had certain reservations about the methods of my fellows."And when I voiced my opinions I was perceived as a subversive element and thus
sentenced to my current exile."
Max couldn't help but give an almost wild chuckle, "Oh like I've not heard that before." he had heard it he saw it in the mirror every morning, well
not actually in the mirror because he didn't use one and right now he would be forever avoiding them as well insane things tended to happen when he
did. "You were kicked out for being a gobshite." he corrected, it was the same reason eh was kicked out, that and his own people were out to get
him.
"I believe the standard practice in times like this would be... a favor for a favor.""I have foreseen something that I may need someone of
your skills to resolve. When that time arrives I will ask for you, as well as the Slayer to return your debts. Is this price acceptable?
"Ahh, an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth and a small purple marsupial for a small purple marsupial." he said with a shake of his head he'd heard
bargins before, "Does the Slayer know she is int his bargin with you?" he asked that for him was an important question. "And how do you know I would
keep up any favour?" he asked, he might if it fitted in with the Balance of course.
-Max
"But I don't want to go among mad People" Alice remarked.
"Oh you can't help that," Said the Cat, "We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad"

"So in theory you could actually shift the whole city 100 feet to the left and end all the problems"
"In theory, yes, that might work." said Tobin, bobbing its head down. "Though the repercussions for such an act are unclear. The presence of this city
over the lines may have some until then unknown purpose."
"Does the Slayer know she is int his bargin with you?""And how do you know I would keep up any favour?"
"She offered to help me in the event I needed it in return for the Animus I gave her. And as for yourself, I trust you will hold true to your end of
the bargain. It may well fit into your own interests as it were."

Anise stood there listening to Max and the bird talking. The more she heard, the more she wished she had never gotten involved. She could just about
have handled the demon attack, and was just about getting her head around having her apartment destroyed on her first night in town, but exhaustion
was setting in, and she didn't like the tone this conversation was taking. She stepped forward, placing a restraining hand on Max's arm and shaking
her head. "Max, you might wanna make sure you know what kind of favour he expects from you before agreeing," she said under her breath, but
with no doubt in her mind that the bird could hear every word anyway. She didn't like the thought of Max having to agree to something without knowing
at least the vague terms, and, becau8se of her nature, she knew she would end up feeling somewhat responsible if things went wrong.

"Max, you might wanna make sure you know what kind of favour he expects from you before agreeing,"
Max smiled at Anise "I'm insane not stupid." he said trying to reassure her that he wouldn't wander into this blindly, he could totally see where he
was going, straight into trouble but at leats he was well aware of it.
"In theory, yes, that might work." "Though the repercussions for such an act are unclear. The presence of this city over the lines may have
some until then unknown purpose."
Max shrugged "Well you can't make an omlette without breaking some eggs, though it might be prudent to keep that in a file marked last resort fo a
desperate man." he said deciding it was better the devil you knew than to create a whole new much bigger and infinitely more pissed off devil.
"She offered to help me in the event I needed it in return for the Animus I gave her. And as for yourself, I trust you will hold true to your
end of the bargain. It may well fit into your own interests as it were."
"Sounds shady>" he said simply, "You let her make a bargin without clearly defined rules. Naughty, those of us who regularly makes pacts with the
devil know better than that. Specifics birdy, give me some specifics and I want a guarente that whatever bargin I blunder into the woman with me, will
not get draged in or be expected to be part of." he said, if he was selling his own soul that was fine, he wouldn't sell Anise's.

"I'm insane not stupid."
Anise looked at Max with an exasperated expression on her face, and just about resisted crossing her arms as she would if she were dealing with an
unruly student. "YOu better know what you're doing," she said quietly. "I get the feeling this guy's not messing around." Her voice had a warning tone
to it, and her eyes were steely chips, not really liking where this was going at all.

SHe looked at Max with surprise. She was slightly taken aback that he would actively work to keep her out of it - she had thought him more likely to
ask for protection for his friends, not some complete stranger who just so happened to be tagging along because she felt some strange sense of
responsibility. "You don't have to do that, you know," she said quietly. "But thank you."

"YOu better know what you're doing," "I get the feeling this guy's not messing around."
Max didn't actually have a clue what he was doing and he looked at Anise with a smile, "Of course I do..." he lied he was winging this and well as far
as past experience went that was usually a bad idea, he was a follower not a leader but loosing the bug would mean Alex could lead him and he'd be
able to stop being expected to make decisions.
"You don't have to do that, you know," "But thank you."
Max gave shrug "Of course I do, you've done nothing but help me, I won't cause you trouble, nor will I let you fall into bargins I make with talking
birds." he said, he may have been a trouble magnet but he would at least try to stop the fall out affecting ohthers around him.
"I will not include your companion in this deal."
Max looked back at the bird, "Good now we have the formalities out of the way and I have your word she will be safe from all of this, I'm at least
willing to listen." he replied. Guardian's dealt in all kinds of things, some dealt with natural issues and other like him dealt in the supernatural,
he knew plenty about bargining with other worldly creatures but until today he never actually expected to have to do it.
"And the prophecy I made goes as thus: When the Keeper of the Fallen arrives on the moonless night, the land shall break, a new god shall
arise, and the Guardians of the Balance will be no more."
The word prophecy was a eight letter swear word to Max, in fact it was like the four letter 'C' word written twice. "Prophercy you made?" he asked, he
rubbed his temples feeling his head start to hurt, he'd spent too many decades dealing with prophercies, "you just decided that all of this was a
prophercy because you said... that's not how they work, no one truely knows where they come from, and they are not set in stone, well okay some where
but he saw no Guardian invlvement, earthly prophercies however were something that could be toyed with. "So you want me to be part of a prophercy well
it's not the first time, so if that's all I have to do to get that bastard out my head so be it. But I won't destroy my own, I'll be part but I can't
guareente what side I'll be on."

"Prophercy you made?"
"Divined, scryed, whatever word you prefer." Tobin said nonchalantly.
"So you want me to be part of a prophercy well it's not the first time, so if that's all I have to do to get that bastard out my head so be
it. But I won't destroy my own, I'll be part but I can't guareente what side I'll be on."
"So long as your are involved, whatever part you chose to play is no concern of mine." the bird nodded. "If you agree to these terms I will remove the
shadow from your mind."

"Divined, scryed, whatever word you prefer."
"A seer then?" Max asked, that might make sense, he knew a lot of those, 111 to be exact, well he knew of 111 he didn't know them all personally,
could spot them in passing and all that. Heck even he could scry, actually he was pretty good at scrying though he mainly used it in the present, and
occasionally in the future. "Do you see it or do you get words?" he asked, he'd never had a prophetic anything, well unless he counted the In the
shit again visions he got from the look on the faces of the Council of Elders members everytime he was in earshot of them, but that wasn't a
prophercy, that was just the status quo.
"So long as your are involved, whatever part you chose to play is no concern of mine." "If you agree to these terms I will remove the shadow
from your mind."
"I assume that if I die or go completely insane it won't matter which side I'm on?" he asked, he was hoping there was at least a loop hole for one of
them. "But if you've already dragged my friend Deccy into this then I'm going to be up to my eyeballs in it anyway so what the heck." he knew if Deccy
was involved he would be by default he had little choice he was somewhat honour bound to protect her. "Now please remove whatever is in my head, I
just want the visions and everything to stop, I want to go back to being alone up there."
